- What languages get spoken in your house, and who speaks which to whom?
My whole family speaks mandarin
- Describe a normal weeknight dinner at your house.
Rice, a plate of tomato and eggs, pork, my moms cooks everything and it is mostly great, my dad sometimes cook.
- What is in your kitchen that would not be in most of your friends' kitchens?
Other types of grains that would be put in rice.
- Where does your family food shop, and how far do they drive to do it?
Usually we just go to market basket or sometimes h-mart.
- What sport, instrument or activity did you end up doing — and who decided?
Cross country, I decided myself, my parents wanted me to do tennis or swimming.
- What do your parents expect of you, said out loud or not?
They expect me to do at least good in school and be outgoing to everyone even though I cannot be the most extroverted person.
- What do you get asked about being Asian American that you are tired of being asked?
Where am I actually from.
- What city or neighbourhood did your family first live in when they arrived?
Boston
- Is there a story about your family that gets retold?
My brother said my mom's family was once one of the respectable person (political wise) thousands of years ago.
- What is one thing about America that someone in your family still finds strange, or funny?
Going to buy groceries everyday, in China we can order them to our appartment.
- What do you want someone to know about your family in a hundred years?
We are just an ordinary family from Shenzhen.
